Everyone has an opinion about everything don’t they? And they should, you should have a voice! But with all the voices out there, who should you listen too? Who should you let influence your own voice? I can’t tell you the answer to that, you must decide that for yourself. But since you decided to stop by my blog to check it out, let me share with you who I am and where my voice comes from.
Regardless of what expertise a person may have a degree in, their opinions and the viewpoint from which they share will come from their personal experiences in life. This is the heart of my writing, to share with you my insights from my life experiences in hopes of letting people know they are not alone and there is hope on the other side of whatever major event they are experiencing at the moment.
What qualifies me to speak, what hats have I worn? Relationally speaking I have held the following titles in life; daughter, sister, niece, granddaughter, cousin, nanny, aunt, girlfriend, wife, mother, stepmom, foster-mom, adoptive mom, and grandmother. I got tired just writing that list!
During the times in my life that I held those titles I have experienced a lot. I have been married, divorced and widowed. Lived with chronic pain, depression, and ADHD. I have raised children with Autism, Borderline personality disorder, Children in Addiction, and a Transgender Child. And finally, I am caring for an elderly parent with Alzheimer’s.
It is not just our experiences that shape our views, it is who we let influence us as well. I find inspiration everywhere, from sitting by the lake or dancing in the rain. But my influences who have a voice are along the lines of Brene Brown, Joyce Meyer, Lindsey Sterling, and a variety of comedians.
Now that you have a glimpse of where I am coming from, I invite you to share with me in this adventure called life!
